The I-GUIDE 2024 Summer School Participant Application is now closed. Applicants can expect to receive a decision regarding their application by Monday, April 22, 2024.
If you are a graduate student, postdoc, or early-career scholar new to geospatial data science and want to learn more about integrating them into your research, or are already working with data-intensive geospatial science approaches, this Summer School will offer new and exciting opportunities for your professional development, and will help you develop interdisciplinary skills and build new connections with others in related fields.
Funding
Through generous support of the National Science Foundation (NSF), all participants will receive full support for travel, lodgings, and food during the week of the Summer School. Travel support includes air travel to and from Boulder, CO if required.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a currently-enrolled or incoming (accepted to a program) graduate student, a postdoctoral scholar, or an early-career scholar (within four years of completing a graduate degree).
- Must be affiliated with a United States institution. Because the Summer School is funded by United States National Science Foundation, we are unable to accept applicants who are not affiliated with US-based institutions.
- Must be able to participate in-person at the University Consortium for Atmospheric Research (UCAR) in Boulder, Colorado for the duration of the program (Sunday, August 4 through 5:00pm MT Friday, August 9, 2024). Air transportation support is included for all accepted participants. No remote participation options will be available.
- Applicants who are not US citizens will need to report their visa status.
Application Process
- Upload a brief statement of interest (maximum 1 page) and a current CV (maximum 2 pages).
- Current graduate students and postdocs will also need to submit a letter of recommendation from an advisor or department head detailing how the I-GUIDE Summer School experience will benefit their research and academic goals.
All application documents must be received by Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11:59pm PT. Decisions will be finalized and all applicants will be notified by Monday, April 22, 2024. Accepted applicants must confirm their acceptance by Monday, April 29, 2024 at 11:59pm PT.
We plan to have project topics finalized in early May 2024. Accepted applicants will be asked to rank their project preference at that time and will be notified of their assigned project by Monday, May 27, 2024.
