This VCO introduces how to access and work with IPUMS NHGIS data programmatically in R using the ipumsr package and the IPUMS API. The session will focus on a key components in the development of reproducible workflows including discovering available data (IPUMS NHGIS), creating and submitting API data extractions, and importing tabular and spatial datasets into R for analysis.  I will include a live coding demonstration using R notebooks from the R Spatial Notebooks project, comprising the series of Notebooks that offers a practical, step-by-step framework for developing reproducible, API-based, spatial data analysis workflows in R.  Learn how to leverage these connections on the I-GUIDE Platform.
