April 9, 2025 11:00 am (Central Time)
Abstract
This talk will showcase part of the R Spatial Notebooks project, focusing on using R for automated extraction, cleaning, and initial exploratory data analysis (EDA) of IPUMS USA data. We’ll begin with an introduction to the project’s structure, motivations, and goals followed by a demonstration of several R notebooks starting with IPUMS USA data extraction via API. This talk will be beneficial to IPUMS users interested in automating their IPUMS data extraction process within R and social science researchers interested in leveling up their R skills. All R skill levels are welcome!
