Calculating Spatial Accessibility in Python with the I-GUIDE Platform

Abstract
Spatial accessibility is a valuable tool for analyzing mismatches between supply and demand across space. We will begin with a brief overview of spatial accessibility followed by a hands-on demo using the Python Pysal access package to calculate spatial accessibility. This talk is open to Python users of all skill levels.

Alex Michels is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). In the fall, Alex will begin an appointment as Assistant Professor in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences at The University of Texas at Dallas. Alex's research focuses on applications of geospatial data science and cyberGIS to address societal challenges.
